Climate Change Adaptation in Peru!

Our dear friend Emily Kirkland will be off on an AT&T New Media Fellowship through Brown University this summer. She will spend eight weeks traveling through Peru, interviewing local community members and representatives from NGOs and government agencies about adaptation to climate change. If all goes well, she’ll be passing through Cusco, Huaraz, Cajamarca, Chachapoyas, Piura, Lima and Huancavelica. (Whew!) Her project is focused on efforts to adjust to a changing climate, and she’ll be examining all sorts of food-related issues. Can native potato varieties help farmers threatened by drought? Will climate change force families to abandon marginal agricultural lands? You can follow her blog here or look for her on Twitter (!) under the username “AdaptationPeru”.
